Bradenton Man Charged with Vehicle Homicide After Crash Involving SCAT Bus

BRADENTON, FL – A Bradenton man is now facing charges of Motor Vehicle Homicide, Leaving the Scene of Death, and Operating Without a License following a fatal crash that occurred in Bradenton on Saturday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 21-year-old Gustavo DeLeon was driving a sedan westbound on State Road 70, approaching US 41 when the collision occurred. DeLeon’s vehicle collided with an SUV that was traveling east on SR 70, also approaching US 41. The impact of the collision caused Gustavo’s vehicle to veer onto the raised median, tragically striking a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old Bradenton man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the incident, Gustavo DeLeon fled the scene on foot. However, authorities managed to apprehend him, and he has since been booked into the Manatee County Jail.
