Fatal Crash Claims Manatee County Man’s Life as Truck Plunges into Retention Pond, FHP Report

MANATEE COUNTY, Fl. – Tragedy struck in Manatee County as a 62-year-old man from Ellenton lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a retention pond, resulting in his death, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m., as the man was traveling north on U.S. 301, south of Chin Road. In an attempt to regain control of the pickup truck, he veered left and then sharply to the right.

Unfortunately, the truck veered off onto a grass shoulder, colliding with a wooden sign before flipping over and submerging into a pond located east of U.S. 301.

Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
