Pedestrian struck and killed by motorbike on SR 70 in Bradenton

Manatee County, FL- A 64-year-old man from Palmetto lost his life at midday on Tuesday, March 14th, after being struck by a motorcycle as he attempted to cross State Road 70 at 87th Street East in Bradenton.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was situated on the median and entered the path of westbound traffic, prompting vehicles to come to an abrupt stop. The motorcycle involved, a Harley Davidson, was heading west behind the vehicles that had to brake suddenly. The 63-year-old motorcyclist from Canada swerved to the right in an effort to avoid the decelerating vehicles, ultimately colliding with the pedestrian.

The collision resulted in the ejection of both the motorcyclist and his 58-year-old female passenger, also a Canadian national. They were transported to Blake Hospital in Bradenton, with the man in critical condition and the woman in serious condition. Both individuals were wearing helmets at the time of the incident.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the site of the accident. The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit has launched an investigation into the matter.
