Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Minors in East Manatee County Crash, FHP Reports

Manatee County, Fl. – In a devastating incident on Saturday night, two children lost their lives after an SUV collided with a power pole along State Road 62 in East Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

FHP’s news release reveals that the crash occurred at approximately 6:32 p.m. near County Road 39, specifically in the Duette area.

The Hyundai SUV, traveling westbound on S.R. 62, reportedly skidded out of control on the wet road, veering off the pavement and ultimately colliding with a solid concrete power pole.

Tragically, an 11-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy seated as passengers were pronounced deceased at the scene. Both young victims hailed from Mulberry.

The driver, a 43-year-old man from Winter Haven, and another adult passenger, a 34-year-old woman from Mulberry, sustained severe injuries in the accident.

Emergency services promptly transported them to Blake Medical Center for treatment.

As of Sunday morning, the FHP stated that the crash remains under investigation, and further details have yet to be disclosed.
